Voyage of Summer Rain travel blog

Saturday January 22nd It was a quiet day in Turtle Bay. Overcast and cloudy but still great! We prepared the boat and decided to take off in the morning for Bahia Asuncion.

Sunday January 23rd What a wonderful motorsail south to Bahia Asuncion. Calm seas, warm weather, we were in our T-shirts and the whales were out playing! It was a grand day. We decided to start the watermaker and get it working. However, as all boat things go, it would not produce water! So, we turned it off and continued our motorsail to Bahia Asuncion. We anchored off the town and received the most friendly greeting from a Canadian gal that lives here with her husband a lobster fisherman. When Robert went below he discovered that the watermaker had continued flushing the system after he turned it off and succeeded in pumping all our fresh water back into the sea! Woops! Looks like we might spend a day or two here.

Monday January 24th Robert worked on the watermaker all day and success, we can now make water! Yeah! It was a beautiful day, sunny and warm.

Tuesday January 25th Happy Birthday Jamie Lyn! Today dawned cool, windy and overcast. Rich and Carol on Amadeus are also anchored here and came over about 1pm to pick us up and we went into town. Can you believe both guide books stated this town had no services to offer and we found an Internet cafe, restaurants, markets and a more prosperous town than Turtle Bay! We stuffed ourselves with a lobster lunch and cold cerveza! What a wonderful town! We plan to leave tomorrow to see the whales up close at San Ignacio.
