We disembarked the cruise ship early in the morning and met our guide for the day. It turned out that the flight to Chengdu was not until 16.00 and it was only 9.30. We had not been expecting anything in Chongqing but the guide had arranged some trips for us to pass the time.
Our first stop was Chongqing Zoo. The main point of the visit was to see the Pandas. We could see them but only one of them up-close but it was a nice zoo, not like Beijing. The best bit was seeing the baby golden haired monkey peeking out from behind a blanket and getting fed. Very adorable!
Then we headed off to the museum to have a look around. It was a very modern looking museum and well laid out and the square opposite was really photogenic. The main part of the museum was to display the history of the three gorges and show some of the artifacts recovered before the flooding started.
The museum also had some great art displayed, both traditional and modern chinese art. Of course, all for sale!!! One artist was so good that the painting looked like a photo.
I did get some paintings, 50% off marked price, which are winging their way back to Ireland.
