Our Lady of rhe Rockies

Had the coach into the RV Dealer by 8:00 and they had the thermostat in by 9:00. Left Billings at 9:30. Made such good time that we drove all the way to Butte. Will stay here tonight and then go all the way home on Thursday. A day earlier!

Did encounter a skiff of snow in the Homestake Pass just East of Butte (a little over 6300 feet). I love the rock formations in this pass.

It is cold, cloudy and windy here BUT we now have HEAT!

Even though it is foggy in the mtns we got a glimpse of "Our Lady of the Rockies" atop the Continental Divide. I always enjoy this sight.

From a Brochure: The project began on Dec 29, 1979 and was finished on December 20, 1985. The project was worked on by men and women in all walks of life, and almost every religion, worked to pave the way for the statue, built in the likeness of Mary, Mother of Jesus. It is entirely nondenominational. The statue was built in 4 sections and then air lifted by a Sky Crane to 3,500 feet above Butte and 8,520 above sea level.

I guess it is intriguing to me because when the kids were little and we came through Butte, it was not finished yet. The hand of Mary was separate on the ground and we have a picture of Kevin standing in her hand.
