Since we were able to see the last four sites on our list the day before we decided to stay in the motorhome and get some chores completed. I vacuumed, did some laundry, sorted papers we had been keeping in a pile, and worked on the journal. Rick tested the batteries and tires, checked the fluids, and oiled the nuts on the towbar. He went to the grocery store and then to the hardware store for a new bathroom latch and adjustable brush stick. He also went back to the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum, 8 miles away, to get some pencils, a print of the home, and a ruler. The gift shop was closed the day before. He put the new latch on the bathroom door. We spent some time getting ready to leave for New York the next day. We were sorry to leave Lone Pine. It was a good example of the kind of RV Park we really like!

Before we left Rick went to the Colchester Post Office to mail Linda's birthday card while I finished putting everything away. We left the Campground at 10:21 am. It was 70˚ and muggy with a light haze. We started out on Sunset Road and turned onto Bay Road. We then got onto US 2 and merged onto I-89 south to I-189 south to US 7 south. After turning onto Vermont 22A we merged onto US 4 west and crossed into New York State. Then we turned onto New York 149 to I-87 south where we passed over the Hudson River. Next we turned onto Ballard Road to New York Highway 50. While we were traveling on the roads I made a list of all the great things we were seeing. There were all sorts of shades of green in the fields, valleys, and on the hillsides. The changing of the colors of the leaves was beautiful. We saw sheep, cows, horses, and cattle. So many people had their homes and shops decorated for fall and/or Halloween. There was a lot of farmland, old barns, silos, modular homes, homes with colonial columns, old homesteads, and single and multi-level homes. Many houses were for sale. We saw a lot of American flags on homes, buildings, and posts. In the fields were fences, tractors, cleared cornfields, gardens, and rolled hay. At one point we saw a group of about 75 Canadian geese flying in different formations. Along the side of the road were several stalls selling pumpkins, mums, apples, and cider. In many of the small towns we went through were churches, inns, bookstores, cemeteries, antique stores, and Saturday Farmers' Markets. We also saw streams, ponds, rivers, small lakes, and bridges. Our whole trip was on 2 lane roads except for about 20 miles. We stopped at the Rest Area by Glens Falls, New York to have lunch. It was off of I-87 south. We arrived at Saratoga RV Park in Gansevoort, New York at 1:53 pm. We had driven 121 miles. It was sunny with high clouds and 82˚. As we were parking, the woman in the motorhome next to us introduced herself. They were from the Gulf Coast of Florida. They have family in the area. Our unhooking and setting everything up was very easy. About an hour after we were all settled there was a knock at the door. It was someone from the office. The mail person had brought Rick's insulin to the Park because it said to refrigerate it on the box. The post office would be closed on Monday because of Columbus Day. How nice of this person!!! We wondered how the mail person knew we were staying at this particular park? Did he or she call each place a person could be staying? This about makes up for all of the problems we have had with the US Mail Service. We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening relaxing, working on the journal, and watching TV. The Park was very quiet and nice. It was so nice to have another uneventful trip!
