We are traveling at our leisure, towards southern Texas. We stopped and spent a day at Gettysburg. So much has been written about the battle here, that I won't go into any details..........I don't have a cheat sheet anyhow. It was enough that we could see the cemetery and saw a monument dedicated to those lost in battle. The numbers are so large that it's hard to comprehend what took place here. There is a large plaque that has President Lincoln's dedication speech of the cemetery............the speech that he thought people would little remember his words. We watched two videos in the visitor center that gave a brief outline of the battle and it was well done.

We left the next morning and are currently in Virginia at a lovely KOA campground out in the woods. We went to Luray Caverns and were in some rooms that had ceilings over 10 stories high. This particular cave took four million centuries to create! It was discovered in 1878 by a tinsmith and a local photographer. We took a one hour guided tour. After the tour we were invited to check out the transportation museum next door. There were conestoga wagons, carriages and all sorts of antique autos. It was amazing to see how great they had been restored. There was one car that was owned by Rudolph Valentino........for those who don't remember him, he was a silent film star ages ago!

We had a great day and will continue moseying our way towards Texas. Tomorrow we are going to visit a live historical museum that has a number of farms on them! Yippee!!!!
