The 2007 Trailer Trash Chronicles travel blog

Dean woke me at 4:38 a.m. to hit the road. He is such a sweetie! We quickly dressed and drove a total of 854 miles, stopping in Jasper, Alabama which is just west of Birmingham. We arrived there around 8:15 p.m. We stopped outside of Tupelo, MS (birthplace of Elvis Aaron Presley) for dinner around 5:30 and drove on as we were not yet thoroughly exhausted at that point. We left Frick's Restaurant and Truck Stop coughing our lungs out. Every single person in the place was chain smoking even though they didn't appear to have two nickels to rub together. I guess somebody has to keep Marlboro in business. Once in Jasper, we felt like we were returning to the scene of the crime. Remember, we started this adventure almost 4 months ago playing the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail with the gang in Montgomery, Alabama.

We slept courtesy of Uncle Sam Walton. We felt like we were at Talledega Raceway as all the Earnhart and Gordon wanna' be's were racing around the parking lot until 11 p.m. I wanted Dean to get his gun out and shoot some tires out, but he wouldn't do it. I figured since we were in redneck country it would have been okay.
