A year abroad- Exchange to Plymouth! travel blog

please note: the camera adds a good 5 feet to this room....

So, we leaft Frank and Mary's at half past 9 (the time we leave everyday- ahahah!). They were so cute and helpful! Mary stayed right until our train arrived, and even helped us load my enourmously overpacked bags onto the train.

N.B. I will never again ever pack that much.

After a long train ride (which was super busy despite the fact it was not durning rush hour), we finally arrived. At it was actually fairly all in all painless. Queued for a taxi, dragged the bags to Gilwell, found the right accomidation office.

BUT I learned. 385--> block= 3. Flat= oh right, thats right, 8!!!!!!!!!

No lift, no ramps. Just me, my bags and eight large flights of stairs! I live right at the top!!!! Actually, the ceiling of my room is even slanted, we are that high up!! AHHHH!!

My room is tiny. The defination of tiny. The chair at the desk touches the bed. Really. And I have a slanted window. Through which I can only see the sky. And since this is jolly old england where it rains more than 135 days a year, that would be a grey sky I see.

My flat is basically a hall with 6 rooms. Ohhhh, but we are lucky to have one of the larger flats. There is a seperate toilet room and then shower room (with a super small shower, but at least it is warm). There is a square shape, which would be just perfect for a lounge. However- NO FURNITURE! oh england. Then we have a kitchen. It's alright, but small when six people try to fit in. And to top everything off, the colour scheme is the same as east. The OLD un-renovated east. Haaaaa, I love orange!

---------

But, here is the best part.

We have 3 main windows. Out of each is a different pub. With such appropraite names as 'Fresher & Professor', 'The Skiving Scholar' and most ironic of all 'Air' (which is in fact, and outdoor smoking patio). At least finding a taxi home from the pubs will never be a problem!!!

My flate mates seem nice so far. There is six of us total, all girls, all aged 19-20. Rhi, Ro, Ama, Sarah and Becky.

Time for me to go shopping- mmmmmm groceries!
