Just a nice fall day
Sep 19, 2007
|Marilyn and I had our morning coffee while talking about the things we still need to get done before leaving here. I plan to get the air ride system aired to the proper pressure today, clean the ceiling fan, and change the water filter. The water filter requires a trip to Wal-Mart. :)
It was a nice day outside so Marilyn went shopping while I puttered around with final plans for the reunion celebration which will be on Saturday in Kahoka, MO.
I have no formal speach, which should delight everyone, but I do have an outline of a few things I will say. Anyway, that is all the planning I am going to do for that.
Jennifer called and she came in to join Marilyn for a bit more shopping, and to have some of her mom's chicken soup. I grilled burgers but Jennifer didn't want one. She is feeling better but still has some morning sickness. She and Steve have a doctor's appointment today and will find out whether it is a boy or a girl, which will be our first grandchild. Personally, I think it will be a boy. We'll know soon and then we can begin to buy some things for the baby. The kids plan to stop by here to see us after the appointment. We can't wait to see them and to hear the news.
We had quite a few phone calls from old friends, yesterday. Larry & Glenda called, as did Rodger & Renee, Dennis & Sonja and Cathy & Steve. It is so nice to have friends calling just to say hello. We are going to see some of these friends at the Mexican restaurant tonight. Bob stopped by to take a picture of Marilyn & I, but he decided to just visit when we informed him that we weren't leaving until next Tuesday.
Last night, I tried to watch the Cardinals ball game on TV but fell asleep in the 11th inning with the score tied 4 - 4. (The Cardinals lost in 14 innings.)
We slept with the A/C on last night. The humidity is back and it is more comfortable with the air on.
When we leave here, it will be the first long trip we have taken where we will just "mosey". We do have reservations at different places but have allowed ourselves plenty of time to see things and to relax along the way. We have allowed 4 or 5 days to get from Hot Springs, AR to Llano Grande in Mercedes, TX. We have no reservations anywhere after leaving Hot Springs so we can simply wander along and take our time. We look forward to that.
Well folks, I had better get going. I am going to make coffee this morning and let the aroma wake Marilyn. She likes for me to do that once in a while, and, since I got up at 5:30 instead of my normal 6:30 AM, I will do that for her. I know, I can just hear you folks saying "Why in the world is he getting up so early when he is retired?"
I have always been an early riser, and when I was flying, it was common to be up even earlier. 4:30 AM was a norm for us, and Marilyn got up with me every morning to share our quiet time with a cup of coffee and quiet conversation. That became a routine and one of the things we place great value on, in our relationship.
Well, nobody ever said we were normal, did they? :)
I hope all of you readers have a great day. Marilyn and I are getting close to the time when we will be on the road again, and will be looking forward to what is around the bend. As for right now, we just can't wait to see what this day has in store.....
