Florence was where the shopping frenzy began. I bought a leather coat, very staid and classic. We were disappointed to be put out of the Hilton hotel, because of a medical conference, but delighted to find they had out sold us to a beautiful Tuscan Hotel, with four course meal thrown in to mollify us. I had been to Tuscany before, but this was a close up view of the winding hills, the forests, and the villas. One of the older couples, from Perth, rang their son, who told them his boss had just bought a villa in the Tuscan Hills. What a coincidence! They are called Hilary and John, and are Eagles' supporters, so we get all the football news. They have two sons who ring them constantly. We spent the next morning at San Gimignano in the Tuscan Hills. Tashie tackled the tower, but I used the time to check the Internet. It was in a little cafe on the second square that I had the best hot chocolate ever. Then onward towards Venice.
