Olie holding up the forest...whoo! Redwoods, CA

Today we woke up early and headed back to the Redwoods! We just can't get enough of this forest! We drove deep into the woods to the Boy Scout Tree Trail. It's a six mile hike to Fern Falls. The trail was steep and winding but once we made it to the falls, we rested with a picnic lunch. The air was cool and damp...the way the Redwoods like it! I don't think I have ever smelled clean air until walking through this forest! Crisp and pure!

We stopped along the trail to see the Boy Scout Tree. It's by far the largest one we've seen. It was all well worth the hike. We missed the dogs, though. Pets aren't allowed on the trails in the National Parks. I guess they are seen as prey to the native critters. So, our four legged friends stayed at home. Safe and sound!
