Tableau in the Trails Interpretive Center

Buffalo Bill Historic Center

Entry to Mt Rushmore Memorial

The last few days have been a whirlwind of Museums and interpretive centers. We started on Wednesday at the Buffalo Bill Center in Cody. This really is a 'Smithsonian of Western History" with five museums including Buffalo Bill (very interesting), American firearms (thousands on display, collectables, historical and examples of about every gun ever built); Rocky Mountain Ecology and natural history, plains Indian life and culture, and a gallery of Western Art.

In Casper there is a very good interpretive center that tells the story of the Oregon, Mormon, Pony Express, and California trails that converged at the crossing of the North Platte River at Casper.

,at Douglas we went to the pioneer museum in search of info on my ancestors and found more thaN we expected.

At Chadron, Nebraska there is an excellent small museum of the Fur Trade that has some amazing artifactsa and displays, and finally at Mt Rushmore we visited the sculptures as well as the attached museums and displays that are very intersting.
