The First Cut

While in Bend, we spent most of one day visiting the High Desert Museum. What a beautiful place; we will definitely visit it again. Thought you might enjoy some photos showing bronze sculptures of some local wildlife, as well as items depicting life on the high desert from years past.

While visiting the homestead, the older woman asked Chris and Robbi if they were actresses, seamstresses, or ladies of the night because they were walking around with their legs showing! They were wearing shorts. What a hoot!

Wood processed in the active saw mill was used to build a barn and fence for the homestead. It was an interesting process to watch the men take raw logs, set them on the runner (balanced), and then run through the saw blade to make boards. Aaron was particularly interested in this part as he has spent a considerable number of years working in the woods.

If you get the chance, stop by. It has beautiful exhibits.
