A rather bleak ¨barrio¨ off the side of the road in Northern...
Having fun with my new friends in Chiclayo..problem was that we were...
I only needed to pay a small amount of money for them...
| Ok,its Monday and as of my last journal entry I was wondering how I was gonna make it to this place..I picked Chiclayo because it is close to the beach, sounded somewhat interesting, and I have a friend here that I had made my last time in Peru. I took a 11 hour busride last night, on this 1st class, 2 level, wonderful, air conditioned bus...lots of leg room..only to make it to a town 3 hours north of here...slept the night in an overpriced hotel, and took a really, really annoying busride down here this afternoon. What makes these busrides especially annoying is that before they actually leave the town, they drive around the town at 5 mph yelling out the destination of the place they are going to..trying to attract more people..you start out with only a few people on board..so, its fine, by the time they reach the city you are going to..it´s packed with people..and the bus is really hot...note to self..don´t believe the hotel receptionist´s anymore for bus reccomendations! Anyway, at this point, I can´t seem to get in touch with my friend, the town doesnt seem to offer much to the backpacker like myself...dont know how long i´m gonna stay here..we´ll see what happens..i´ll let ya know... Tuesday Things have gone a little better today...got in touch with my friend...she was working, but she sent her cousin, and her cousin's friend to show me around town. They both spoke a little English, but it was still a struggle speaking and understanding the Spanish being spoken...They really didnt have anything to show me, so we just walked around town for a few hours. We actually went to my friends house, even though she wasnt there. We sat in her living room, and were served water by her mother, although the mother didnt talk to us...she just brought the water in, and then left..it was quite strange... anyway, i believe i have plans to go out with a whole bunch of people tonite..none of which really speak english...i know i'm going to learn this way..it's just really difficult concentrating that hard for hours at a time..well, should be an interesting night..i'll let ya know how it goes... Wednesday Had a fun night with my new Chiclayon friends...it was quite dead here, but we went out, got drunk, danced, and did a little karaoke...in Spanish!...I think it's time to move on to a different town..I'm going down to a little beach town called Huanchaco today...just need to figure out again how i'm going to get there. ***I should have pictures up soon, as my new disposable camera is almost finished...and I should have a new digital camera within a few weeks...take care..
