Sheila & Terry's New Zealand special holiday travel blog

The following day although started rainy soon cleared up and become very warm. We took a taxi to the botanical gardens after checking out of our room and spent the day wandering slowly amongst the plants and orchids trying to keep in the shade.

The swimming pool soon revived us on our return and then we went to explore China town and the food stalls in food street. Terry remembered them from when he was in Singapore in 1972 so we had a meal there. It reminded me a little of a "safari supper" as we had a drink and melon at one stall, then main course at another and then walked to the river quays again to buy an ice cream where we sat on the steps which edged the river and watched the water taxis buzzing around.

We then had a coffee back in the hotel foyer before being picked up at midnight to start our final journey back home.
