First impressions of Singapore other than it is hot and humid were reasonably favourable. The weather was unusual for Singapore...rainy... but this kept it a little cooler and with the loan of an umbrella from the hotel was not a problem. The city is very modern and clean with high rise flats, and shopping presincts everywhere. The hotel we stayed at Copthorne Kings was on the river Singapore and so we walked alongside it to the sea past all the different quays with all the cafes and restaurants and boat taxis bustling around. Raffles was interesting to see as were the temples. We also had a fabulous lunch in a small Cantanese cafe for $5.90 each.

The hotel had a lovely swimming pool and the best Jaccuzzi I have been in (hugh very powerful jets of water and strong bubbles everwhere at all different levels) so we soon felt better after the days sight seeing and ready for the evening.

In the evening we went down to Clarke Quay as it is organising for a light festival and there were lights on reminded me of Blackpool illuminations!
