One year in a 5th wheel
Sep 8, 2007
|Sorry for the delay this morning. The wi-fi at the cave is still not working. I am now at the local McDonalds once again. Coffee is good though.
Yesterday was a frustrating day in the morning. I had part of the journal entry done and then was kicked off the internet and was unable to get back on. I carried my laptop over to the cave office and still no wireless. I ended up going to the local McDonalds parking lot and finished the entry in no time. As a sign of gratitude I purchased a couple of burgers and some fries to take back to the RV for lunch. Marilyn had a salad made so we ate that too. :)
We watched some of the golf tournament and then dressed to visit our friends, Steve & Cathy. Ralph & Rosalie had called and we expected them around 4:15 PM. They called for directions at 4:30 PM and arrived a few minutes after that. It was hugs all around.
We visited for awhile and then helped Steve get set up to cook catfish. We cooked outdoors on his patio, but ate indoors, due to a rather good crop of mosquitoes this year.
We had fried catfish, baked beans and cole slaw for dinner, with fresh baked cookies and ice cream for desert. I passed on the desert which surprised everyone. These friends have known me for a long time. :)
After that big meal I was stuffed and sleepy so we left a little after 8:00 PM and returned home. I went to bed right at 9:00 and watched some of the Cardinal ballgame before falling asleep. I don't know how the game came out.
Later today, the gang will come out to the RV and we'll grill some burgers outdoors. The weather promises to be beautiful today, even though we have a lot of cloud cover right now.
This morning is Sept 8th and it was exactly one year ago today that we took delivery of our new Mobile Suites. It is hard for me to believe that we have been doing this for one year. Would we go back to a large home with yard to mow, and all of the associated upkeep of owning a home? No way!
What will we do differently in our second year? We will travel to some locations we want to see again, and spend less time in Missouri, although our new grandchild will be one of our top priorities.
We will not work-camp, except for doing an RV show in Springfield, IL at the end of March. We have promised the owners of Mark Twain cave campground that we will do that for them.
We will spend the summer months of June, July and August in the mountains of Colorado, once the RV-dreams Rally is over in Branson, MO.
There are a few of our plans for the coming year.
Well folks, Marilyn is up and fixing our morning coffee. We may have to get dressed and have our coffee outdoors. It is going to be a beautiful morning.
Oh, one more thing, I just can't wait to see what this day has in store....... :)
