Yesterday was my last day as a guide here at the Cave complex. It has been a good season and I had a lot of fun meeting people, both tourists and the staff I worked with. We miss some of the good people who began the season here and left early for one reason or another, but we hope to see them all again.
Marilyn and I had our coffee inside once again, even though it was a very nice morning. Actually it was too cool to sit outdoors at the early morning hour when we have our coffee. I took my morning shower and dressed for my last day in the cave. We had pretty full tours all day and the people were great. I sure enjoyed having all of them along on my last day. Before I did the four tours of Cameron Cave, I walked through the Mark Twain cave, taking pictures. At some point in the future, I plan to do a pictorial entry of the two caves here in Hannibal. It is a nice place to visit if any of you folks plan a trip to the midwest some day.
I had planned to grill some chicken after work but I was worn out and it had become quite hot outdoors, so we had a simple dinner, watched some mindless tv, and then went to bed to read.
We slept with the windows open again last night. The nights are quite cool now and it is perfect for sleeping under a blanket.
Today I have plans to repair one of our loungers which has lost a bolt connecting the arm to the back. I also hope to get the truck washed and waxed. Then I will grill the chicken and let Marilyn fix the fresh sweet corn and a salad. Life is so good once again!
We have friends coming to visit this next weekend and we are looking forward to that. We have the class reunion coming up, and we still have lots of relatives to visit. Much to do and the time is getting short.
Well folks, I had better get off of here and get my day started. I can't wait to see what this day has in store.....
