Cody gun slinger street theatre
More animal heads at the Buffalo Bill Museum
Elk, not real but similar to those seen in Jasper and Yellowstone...
Rodeo - just before kissing the earth
On the road to Vernal
The roads to Cody proved to be exceedingly scenic and perfect for motor cycling.
The first section was a diversion up the Beartooth Pass - elevated nearly 11000 feet, quite cold and wind gusts that can (and did) move you from one side of the lane to the other. Notwithstanding the curves and bends proved to be very satisfying.
The Chief Joseph highway through to Dead Indian pass likewise had the curves and bends a motorcyclist craves.
At Cody, we went to a rodeo (which appeared to feature many Australians) and generally enjoyed the sun. The people of Cody (or Wyoming in generall are particularly proud. Many flags line the streets and before the rodeo commenced we had an "Ämerica the beautiful" type song, a prayer and then the national anthem. We added our precence by dressing accordingly.
I didnt mention that in Alberta we went to "Head Smashed in Buffalo jump". There are many buffalo jumps but this one refers to a little boy who came to close when trying to watch the buffalo waterfall. The museum there is very informative about native americans. The buffalo were wiped out not by the likes of Buffalo Bill (from Cody) as he was paid handsomely for all parts of the bison. The bison were slaughtered to remove the indians food sources to force them onto the reservations.
From Cody, we went to Vernal in Utah about 400 miles away. Here there appear to be dinosaurs by the thousand but our focus was to move to Moab in Utah.
