Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Jen & Nikki (Nurses at work)

Yesterday was a wonderful day! We had our morning coffee outdoors. Several people who are staying in the campground stopped to visit as they walked the dogs, etc. One guy stopped by and asked about the cave tours. He had been with me when I took a group through the Mark Twain cave one day last week. He had some nice things to say about me as a guide and wanted to know when I was going to lead a tour of Cameron cave. He went on the tour without me since he is leaving today, and I am not working until tomorrow.

Later in the morning, I borrowed the lawn mower and the weed eater to get the lawn squared away. It has been looking pretty bad and the maintenance guys are a bit behind on the mowing because of all the rain. After mowing and using the weed eater for awhile yesterday, I showered and put on clean clothing. We then made a quick trip to Wal-Mart and picked up some groceries. I cooked some chicken on the grill and added some of our favorute bar-b-cue sauce, which was a gift from Rick & Sherry.

Marilyn cooked some potatoes and onions together and then melted hot pepper cheese over the top. Yummy!

In the evening we drove out to the hospital to visit with Jen. We were delighted to see Nikki sitting with Jen, having a "gab fest". Nikki is a sweetheart and was a bridesmaid in the wedding of Jen & Steve. We had a nice conversation and shared hugs all around. Jen took a break and sat with us in the cafeteria area for awhile, just talking. It was so nice to see her feeling good and having a good day.

When we left the hospital, we joined good friends, Steve & Cathy for dinner at a Chinese Buffet. We came away from that place well stuffed!

We watched some tv before going to bed to read for awhile. We slept with the windows open again and it was wonderful.

I awakened during the night and layed in bed listening to the night sounds outside. It is amazing how alive the night is with the sounds of insects. No other sound is audible from anywhere. Then, from far off, I heard a train whistle, barely audible. Talk about a peaceful feeling and a comfortable night of sleep. Wow!

Well, my friends, Marilyn has coffee nearly ready. I do want to thank all of you who have written about the campgrounds in Arkansas. We are doing the research and will keep you informed as we travel that direction at the end of next month.

It is another beautiful day here and we are going to get outside. I can't wait to see what this day has in store......
