And Welcome to Michigan...

Our home for the evening, we did not even unhook from truck,...

Oh sure, we woke up to a beautiful, sun-shiny day. Argghhhh...we called the office to plead for our space for another night, but no luck. All filled up. So, no tour for us today. Ah well, we'll be in lots of other great places I am sure. Gave us a chance to get an earlier start this morning. We have been watching the weather channel carefully & plotting our location based on the surrounding storms. The poor folks in the midwest are really having a tough time. So sad, all the flooding & power outages...we are staying as far north as possible.

We had a pretty drive all afternoon on US 2. Caught our first glimpses of the fall colors. I must say once we crossed the Wisconsin border into Michigan it was just beautiful. We crisscrossed from Wisconsin, to Michigan, back into Wisconsin, then back into Michigan! I kept asking Larry "what state are we in?" Guess it's a blonde thing, because I sure can't keep Minnesota, Wisconsin & Michigan straight!!

I do know we are now in Iron Mountain, Michigan, on the Upper Peninsula, heading toward Mackinaw City. This whole area is full of lakes & streams & every kind of tree you can imagine. It stayed around 70 degrees all day today. Love it, love it! If any of you have suggestions for "must see" things in the area please drop us a note. We are heading east through Ohio, Pennsylvania & New York next. Thanks.

We are at the Summer Breeze Campground in Iron Mountain for one night only although we like it here very much. $12 a night for Passport America. We bbq'd steaks for dinner & enjoyed some of the local tomatoes & corn-on-the-cob. Wow, these farmers markets are awesome. I haven't had tomatoes like this in years, well, maybe ever! We are happy having a tomato sandwich for lunch & that's saying something! Hope to find more on down the road. We passed an apple orchard this morning just outside of Bayfield. Wish we would have stopped. Expected to pass more later but never did. Don't know if the season is nearly over, but I suspect so.

We cross into Eastern time zone just a few miles down the road. And my Cingular cell service is working as is Larry's Verizon. Yippee. So for those of you on Pacific time, we will be 3 hours ahead of you for awhile. For those of you that typically call me at 10pm, please keep that in mind! LOL You might catch us zzzz'ing...

Well, it is 7:30pm so will close this for now & catch a little Tivo Tv before we hit the sack. We drove just under 200 miles again today & we're wore out! But sure happy to be here. Have a great night....
