I was up at 6:00 this morning so I could be ready to leave by 9:00. I had to pay my rent and electricity bill for the last five days at CARE. I was glad they let me stay there for these five days.
While I was in the center, RB showed me the new IBM server which was donated by IBM through the efforts of volunteer, Tom Marlatt, a retired IBM employee. This will allow CARE to network all their computers and streamline their office operations. A wonderful gift indeed! I'm very happy for them.
Before leaving town, all three of us needed to buy propane and Jan also needed to get gasoline. It was about a quarter to ten by the time we were actually heading out of town on US Highway 59. We keep in touch via CB radio while on the road. We made several stops along the way, with lunch at a nice shady picnic area near Tenaha, a tiny burg about halfway between Lufkin and Marshall.
We all were tired by the time we arrived at our first home on the road. This is my third visit to this campground. Rocky Point Campground is located in a mixed hardwood-pine forest just south of the dam. It is a US Army Corps of Engineers project on Wright Patman Lake off US 59 a few miles south of Texarkana. After getting set up at our sites, we sat at a picnic table for a while to visit before retiring to our separate rigs. There was a nice breeze blowing off the water, which helped to cool us down a bit. The heat and humidity had drained our energy.
