Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Marilyn and I had our morning coffee while discussing our travel plans for when we leave here. We have tentatively planned to travel down through Arkansas rather than go to Colorado and then backtrack to get to the San Antonio area before going on down to the Rio Grande valley. I'll keep you advised on our plans as we go along.

After church, we went grocery shopping at Wal-Mart and then returned to the RV. We put the groceries away and settled down to watch the final round of the PGA tournement on tv.

That was the extent of our day. It was a lazy, relaxing day.

In the evening we tried to sit outdoors with a cold drink. Nancy was out walking Hershey and she stopped by for a minute. When she left, we went back in to the air conditioning of our RV.

We went to bed around 9:30 PM and read for awhile. Marilyn fell asleep but I wasn't sleepy so I got up and went into the living room to read. I had just finished my book, Race across Alaska, when I felt the RV rock slightly and heard a fierce wind outside. I decided to go back to bed, but I knew our lawn furniture was still out, so I put on a pair of shorts and went outdoors. Wow! It had cooled off and the wind was blowing and it was raining lightly. I put the lawn chairs away, took our "Home is where you park it" sign off the hitch, and noticed that our Dish antenna had been blown over. I put it in a safe place as the sky filled with lightning, and then I retreated indoors, windblown and wet.

I dried off with a towel and had just climbed into bed, noticing that it was after 11:30 PM, when a huge KABOOM thunderclap shook the RV. Wow, I was glad to be indoors. I fell asleep in just a couple of minutes and we slept soundly.

This morning, I am driving to Monroe City to have breakfast with a couple of friends, while Marilyn does laundry.

Oh, oh, it is time to have a cup of coffee with my gal before I take off. It is cool and nice this morning. I can't wait to see what this day has in store...
