Well, yesterday was a glorious sunny and warm day, but we had errands to run and things to fix. I took my home to the RV repair shop Thursday afternoon and they found the problem but couldn't fix it because it involves chassis work. They recommended a place but they couldn't take me in while I was in town, so they referred me to American Tire! They have a mechanic who is able to replace the multifunction switch that is in the steering column, so that is what I did yesterday morning. The cost was a few hundred dollars, but it's fixed and that's what's important.
Lee had an appointment for Friday morning and they had to keep the coach all day to install a new alternator. However, when they plugged in at the campground, they soon had no power at all! So, they have to stay until Monday when they can take the coach back to the shop and have them figure out where the wiring is bad. Karen and Lee won't be able to go to Homer with us tomorrow.
Today we made up for what we couldn't do in the way of sightseeing and learning yesterday. In the morning, we went to the Alaska Native Cultural Center and watched demonstrations of sports and dancing, saw an animated film about how the crow brought light to the land, walked through the museum, and took a guided tour through the replicas of the 5 main native tribes of Alaska. I was impressed by the different style homes they had to deal with the climates they lived in. I also liked their icons and found out that they were chosen recently by a committee who thought they ought to have emblems signifying their tribe.
