Usual new year for me,promised so much but delivered so few. After having a ball of a night in Accra the night before where I have to say Deb and I are now the reigning pub quiz champs at "Champs Bar" where we fought off the strong challenge from the other teams.Well not really we flogged their pastey expat @rses by 10 points to win the major prize of 225,000 cedis which is about $25.Now this might not seem like much but when the drinks are 8,000 cedis for a pint or to Debs glee 15,000 for margaritas, this comes in very handy indeed.Of course the prize had to be spent that night in the bar so who were we not to go on a big old margarita and beer bender. In fact we managed to spend a little bit over our prize which would've explained the very sore head the next day.

So onto the new years eve spectacular which was somewhat dismal for me.We were staying in a sort of rasta, hippy camp ground by the beach. This was a pretty chilled out place indeed. They were throwing a new year bash with a buffet, band fireowrks etc.

Unfortunately for me the old dose of tap @rse brought any enjoyment I was going to have to a halt.Even after an immodium sandwich I was still struggling.....

The new years show itself went pretty good with the band the highlight.Just imagine 6/7 rastas fuelled up on god knows what belting out all sorts of reggae tunes for 6 hours straight without a break. These fellas certainly gave it there all to the point of when it came to the actual new year countdown they were halfway through a song and decided to finish that first.Even with the firework exrtravaganza going off around them, which in this case was random drunk locals letting off fireworks in every direction which normally was either throught he crowd,at the band or into the coconut palms which was my favourite as they would hit the palm leaves and come straight back down and explode amongst the gathered crowd.I know all too well Jeff would of been in his element here. The comment was made that there be alot of fingerless Ghanaian kiddies the next day the way they were just shooting those fireworks off......

After the usual new years eve lay in which was very much welcomed by all and sundry we headed off through the chaos that is Accras traffic to Togo......
