Me unimpressed by two hours of climbing stairs!

Went and saw Machu Picchu today. We stayed overnight in Aguas Calients so that we could wake up very early and catch the bus up to Machu Picchu to see the sun rise over the hills. (unfortunatly nature didn't agree with our plans and there were clouds everwhere so not only did we not see the sunrise...we also couldn't see most of the ruins!) BUT...our ever faithful guide Wilburt assured us that this was great and that the clouds would lift and this way Machu Picchu would reveal itsself to us. IT DID! After about 30 mins of touring through the ruins the clouds started to rise up and then it was all clear and we had a great view of everything!

We spent most of the day looking around the site and then I went up with one of the other girls from our tour to hike up WynaPicchu. It is the higher moutain behind Machu Picchu that you always see. I figured it would be no problem after our long trek ..whats one more moutain right??....WRONG! ...all was going well ...we got to the top..fantastic view and then we decided that while we where there we would also check out the caves on the other side of the moutain on the way back down....what we didn't realize is that you go down to see the caves...then back up (too many stairs and precarious ladders to count) to midway before you can go back down....I don't think I have ever been that tired in my hole life!!! I actually wanted to cry each time we finally go to the top of one set of climb/stairs and there were even more to follow!

BUT...it was worth it and now that I can feel my legs again I am a happy camper.

We took the bus back to Cusco that night and have one day there before I head off to the jungle.
