Multiple glaciers in College Fjord

Getting closer

Yet another view

Another distant shot

Sailing away

Saying goodbye, and Thanks, God!

After sailing all night and much of the next day, we arrived at College Fjord. This is another awesome place with many glaciers, each named for a college or university in the USA.

Once again, the scenery was just too beautiful to describe. You simply must go to Alaska yourself to see it. Pictures make things too small and I don't have the words to describe it. The words of the song, America the Beautiful, come to mind.

God was having a really good day when he created Alaska.

One of the neat things which happened on the cruise was that one of the Iditarod racers came on board and spoke in the theater, about how the race came about, and told of the hardships and how she won it. Her name was Libby Riddles, who was the first woman to win the Iditarod. She has written a book called "Race across Alaska" and I am reading it now.

Back to College Fjord. I get distracted easily as I recall certain events which happened on the ship. :)

That day began with lots of fog and we could barely make out the shoreline. Then the fog lifted and the scenery was all around us. There were quite a few ice floes in the water and we could hear them bumping against the ship, but the scenery kept our attention.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.
