Well it didn't rain last night, and started quite bright, we left the site on Phillip island, and headed towards Melbourne, turning off eastwards at the first main junction in the general direction of Sydney, via the coast road.
After a stop for coffee and cakes, we stopped again at Sale by the lake, an interesting variety of water birds asailed us for scraps including a pelican and several of Basils relatives.
Pressing on through the busy resort of Lakes Entrance, a sort of Ausi bay of islands, we searched for a quiet rural campsite, found it at Nowa Nowa a timber town.
The site was an unexpected delight, in that the owner certainly has a quirky sense of humour, and it was cheap.
Several pics were taken of the various artworks doted about ( see pics).
Tomorrow we should move into New South Wales, travelling up the Sapphire coast.
We are intending to make a collection of Ausi road signs, since they have a refreshingly candid approach to delivering the message. eg "If you drink and drive your a bloody idiot".

We woke on the banks of the Boggy , and ended up in Bega, the historic cheese town, complete with cheese heritage centre.
Most of the drive was through the rain forest, and the flame trees, new leaves are orange coloured reminisent of the autumn.
we stopped for a walk through the rain forest, took a few pics of flora and fauna ie lizards which were to quick for the camera.
We had lunch by the lake at gypsy point and chose this stop at Bega, to avoid the crowds at the more beachy front resorts.
tomorrow we are hoping to reach Kangaroo valley near Wollongong south of Sydney.

The day started miserably wet, and seemed set to continue, in the event it got better around lunchtime, and we stopped at Broulee beach to have lunch. whilst doing so we watched the surfers in the bay, and generally enthused about the setting.
A river runs into the bay at this point and there were some very nice holiday properties set about the beach, about two hours from Sydney.
We pressed on to Nowra and an excellent site, where we think we may stay another night, doing a little local exploring on the 11th.
