| We woke in Arthurs Pass with the rain still beating down on our little van, after our "wild campers" breakfast we headed off to Kaikoura on the east coast in search of Sperm whales. As we travelled through the pass we caught a glimpse of a blue sky which opened up before us into a wonderful sunny day bringing the amazing Arthurs Pass scenery to life. We travelled through the small towns of Oxford and Sheffield, eventually finding ourselves taking a pit stop at a beautiful sandy beach half-way to Kaikoura. The romantic stroll along the beach quickly (and farscially) turned into a mass water fight, with no clear winner (but two very wet losers). Once back in the camper and with a change of clothes it was onward to Kaikoura. We arrived at what appeared to be a typical british seaside town, we set up camp and headed into town for dinner by the sea at the end of another great day. .. but would we get to see the elusive Sperm whales tomorrow ? |
