Standing on our names

We arrived late in Fayetteville last night, so we slept in. Great to be back home. I took my wife and kids to show them where I went to college. As we walked around and saw the buildings, I kept wondering if I remembered, or had dreamt, or just deja vu. I still have recurring dreams that I am late for the final exam in a class where I don't even know where it is. Of course, we had to break in the fraternity house where I lived back in the day.

One of the traditions at the University of Arkansas is the Alumni Walk. Every graduate's name is cast in concrete as part of the campus sidewalk system. We found my name, my sister's name and her husband's name all within about 20 yards.

We went to a wedding of the daughter of one of my many cousins. She is the first of that generation to get married, so there was a great turn out of family. Good to see them all.

We had dinner as a big family at an Italian restaurant named the Venesian Inn where my parents first met in 1957. It was a hangout when I was in college and we still had to wait in line. Still as good as I remembered.
