LINCOLN LAKE A VERY SHORT WALK FROM OUR CAMPER, MAYBE 30 YARDS

THE BEACH

THIS IS THE LIFE

WE ONLY HAVE 120 MILES TO DRIVE. THE CORN CROP ALONG THE ROAD IS ONLY A LITTLE OVER A FOOT TALL. THERE WAS RAIN WHILE WE WERE HERE BUT MAYBE NOT ENOUGH.

ARRIVED AT LINCOLN EARLY AFTERNOON, AS WE ARE BACK ON CENTRAL TIME. THIS IS ANOTHER GREAT INDIANA STATE PARK. BEAUTIFUL SITE, AND THE HOST OF THE CAMPGROUND BACKED THE CAMPER INTO OUR SITE, AFTER I MENTIONED HOW HARD IT WAS FOR US TO BACK IN.

WE CAN WALK TO THE BEACH AND LAKE. I PLAN ON HAVING MY MORNING COFFEE WHILE GAZING AT LAKE LINCOLN. THERE IS ELECTRICITY AND WATER ON MOST CAMPSITES. THANK YOU TO THAT PERSON LOOKING OUT FOR US AND GIVING GREAT PLEASURE TO TWO OLDIES.

ACROSS FROM THIS CAMPGROUND IS THE NATIONAL MEMORIAL TO LINCOLN. LINCOLN LIVED HERE IN INDIANA FROM AGE 7 TO 21.

I DON'T KNOW IF OUR CHILDREN REMEMBER BUT WE CAMPED HERE 35 OR 36 YEARS AGO. WE WERE CAMPED IN KENTUCKY ON THE LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES AND THERE WAS A TERRIBLE STORM. THAT FAMILY WE BECAME FRIENDLY WITH WERE CAMPED IN A TENT. ANYWAY THE FATHER GOT STRUCK FROM LIGHTING THAT HIT THE TENT. HE WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND WE LEFT THE NEXT MORNING FOR LINCOLN STATE PARK TO DRY OUT.

HEARD FROM MEL I GUESS MICHAEL IS BACKPACKING SOMEWHERE IN SOUTHERN INDIANA AND HE MAY BE BACK IN LAFAYETTE ON MONDAY. I TRIED TO GET AHOLD OF HIM AND LET HIM KNOW WE WILL BE ON SITE #108 IN PROPHETSTOWN CAMPGROUND IN WEST LAFAYETTE. WE WILL NOT BE THERE UNTIL AFTER 3PM MONDAY AT THE EARLIEST.
