Country number 4 . . . Malaysia! This part of my tour starts in Georgetown the capital of Penang. (Great name huh!)

This is where the tour starts to move pretty quickly we've 2 nights in each place from now on, now i'm really living out of my backpack!

After we have dumped our bags in our hotel, which by the way has the grumpiest receptionist I have ever met! Not even Mark could make her laugh which is saying something! We had 10 tuk tuk's lined up waiting outside to take us on a tour of the city!

Now I have already been on one of these a couple of times in Vietnam, however these tuk tuk drivers decided that they were going to drive right through the lanes of cars, by this point it was also rush hour!!!!! Once again my life flashes before my eye's as a huge car heads straight for me! What is it with transport in S E Asia!

We were taken on a tour through China Town, Little India and down to the sea front! Penang is all very pretty and very much more westernised than the previous 3 countries, however we have yet to totally escape those squat toilets!!!!!

The follwoing day we decided (that's Sophie, Sam, Mark & I) to head up to the top of Penang on the railway.

Although it was raining the train is still very cool and very steep! It takes half an hour to get to the top and you have to change trains in between.

Once up the top we got the typical photo's although slightly cloudy and you can't really make out the bridge which crosses from mainland Malaysia to Penang!

The top is a complete tourist trap, we came across a snake show where a guy supposedly charms a snake (I think it was actually drugged with something) so that he can then kiss it! yes, Crazy snake Guy who kisses snakes!

The guy went from talking in Malay to English then back again, he spend more time talking then actually doing anything! However, it was quite cool to see, and it was not my last encounter with snakes!

Once we had made our way back into central Penang we headed up the Komtar tower which is the tallest building in Penang! There's not much I can say about it really, as you can see from the photo there is only so much you can say about a vew!!!!!

We were all very impressed however with our free postcards and drink! (So easily pleased)

Our last night in Penang, we stumble upon a cafe for tea and find that they are showing a film at 8, after we manage to convince them to play Pirates of the Carribean 2 we settle there for the evening! See so easily pleased and so Rock & Roll!

So a very brief visit to Penang, next stop Cameron Highlands...
