Club House @ Skyline Ranch RV Resort

Shenandoah Valley from Skyline Parkway

Shenandoah National Park Bears

Momma Bear Shooing the Baby Away from Road

We arrived Skyline Ranch RV Resort in Front Royal, VA on May 30th. Front Royal is located in Northwest Virginia and is the beginning of the Skyline Parkway which runs south and becomes the Blueridge Parkway further south.

Skyline Ranch is a Coast to Coast park that sports one of the prettiest club houses we have seen. It is built to resemble several buildings in an old west town. It sets in a valley between mountains and has a very nice view. They had a petting zoo, but it is down to three occupants. Two pot bellied pigs and a pony are all that are left. The pony was a very blond color with a white mane and tail. She was cute as a button and had the most beautful eyes I have ever seen. They were huge and almond shaped with very long white lashes. Unfortunately, I waited until the day before we left to take pictures and when I went take them, she was not in her corral.

We did get critter pictures while taking a drive down the Skyline Parkway in the Shenandoah National Park. As we drove along, I saw a motorcycle stopped in the middle of the on coming lane and the riders had dismounted in the middle of the road. I was just about to mention to Trina how dumb they were, they pointed to the side of the road. A mother bear and cub were digging grubs on the side of the bank. After pulling off the road, I carefully got as close as possable without scaring them and took some pictures. While I was taking pictures, a smaller cub came down the embankment. Momma beat immediately shooed it back up the bank and out of sight. Apparently, it was her baby and the larger cub was a year old. She was taking good care of the baby.
