Al and Rick - hard at work

Al and I have just left Rick and Leslie's "compound", in the mountains of Tennessee. They moved there permanently about three months ago, and are slowly making it their home. Their acerage is beautiful, and we were lucky to have arrived at a time when we could give them a hand, preparing for their electrical inspection. They are living in a portion of what will eventually be a workshop/guest cottage. Their long-term plans are to build a log home on top of the hills on their property.

In addition to the projects we worked on, we found time to swim in their creek, run the dogs, cruise on the ATV's and sit around the campfire every night. I can't say enough good about these wonderful friends and their down-home neighbors. They will have a beautiful life in Tennessee.

We have just arrived at the Kentucky border, in Big South Fork National Park. There is plenty of hiking and white water here. Apparently, there are a number of old stills, cabins and lodges that we will hike to. The next stop will be Mammoth Caves National Park. More to come......

It has been suggested that if I travel west fast enough, I won't turn 50 on Tuesday!
