We left Kenai and drove to Seward. On our way we stopped off at Copper Landing and went a nice raft trip. The parking was a fun event...they said on the phone they had room for our RV but in the end after I pulled in, they did not. We had to unhook the car turn around and drive the RV to a nearby camp ground. The only bad thing was that while we were doing this we missed a black bear that lazily strode through the area. Getting ready for the raft trip was amusing (see the pictures). The water, of course, is very cold that they had us get dressed up in the rain gear to avoid having splashes get us wet. I was thinking this is a nice gentle float but then we had some small rapids and then the bear. This was so cool, we actually saw him catch the fish then he ran off into the woods. It was soooo Wild! We had a nice float and then continued on down toward Seward.

Once settled in at the Campground we drove into town and saw them unloading Halibut that had been caught. They had to weigh eachone for the derby/contest. I think the winner that day was 124lb Halibut. We made our reservations for a Fjord tour which was great but I'll tell you more on that tomorrow. Back at the campground we met our neighbors, who it turns out, is an authur, as well. Bob and his wife Rita are from Indianna and he has retired from teaching Political Science at De Pau University. He has also written a book called "To Restore American Democracy" by Robert E. Calvert. It looks like a facinating read. We have enjoyed each other's company for several evenings around the campfire.
