We took the drive from the border of Nth Dakota and Montana to come and see one of America's most famous attractions in South Dakota. We spent the night in rapid city and got up early in the morning to make our way to Mount Rushmore.
For those that arent familiar with Mount Rushmore it is the place where the 4 presidents (Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln) have their faces carved into the rock in the mountains. The whole things took a total of 14 years to make which was designed by a man named Gutzon Borglum. We took a walk around the presidents loop where you can see different angles of the sculpture, and also learn the history behind how the sculpture was made and the tools that were used. This monument will be around for a long long time as the rock is extremely hard and only decomposes .10 cm every 100 years (or something like that). It is an amazing sight, and learning about the effort that was put in to get it the way it is today just makes it a better sight to see.
After a few hours at Mount Rushmore, we jumped back in the car and made the journey back to my cousin Dion's place in Longmont.
