Hostel in Champex - Au Club Alpin
| -We depart La Peule and my hay bed bright and early and head towards Val Ferret and La Fouly. -The Swiss part of trail is so beautiful that I don't think I have words to describe it...but just think of "The Sound of Music"...yes it takes place in Austria but it was filmed here in Switzerland... -We pass through open pastures with awesome view of the mountains around us...pass many streams where the water from the glacier runs through. -This is the funniest part of the day...we were passing through an area called Prayon. One part of the trail passes through a campsite, our group leader bumped into a friend and decided to chat for a few minutes and had instructed us to carry on and that he will catch up with us. So as a group we kept on walking following the trail ahead of us. About 30 minutes past, we found ourselves walking on paved highway and felt that we might've walked off the 'route' and are lost. So as a group we had decided to stay in one spot and wait for our guide. About half an hour later, our guide came running out of a bush looking quite worried. -Anyhoot...we were found and continue on the correct trail towards Praz de Fort where we will rest and have lunch. -Route from there on was passing through Swiss villages where they have the most amazing chalets. We start to hike uphill again....our guide took us through many shortcuts so hopefully we will arrive in Champex early to rest. -We arrived in Champex at about 5pm and settled in our hostel - Au Club Alpin. What a wonderful little village...it is a famous ski resort town as well. |
