Good morning everyone,
We have some updated information to add to our journal, and hopefully some god news to share with you.
First- the container sent to Makina. We have recieved notification that the container has been released from the customs area and is now off the docks and in a compound, ready to be trucked to Makina. We are ironing out some final deatails in terms of when we can arrange to have the container delivered to Makina and what the final costs are, but it appears that we may FINALLY have some movement in this area. Dr. Petrucka is in contact with some of our friends in Kenya who are helping us through this process and we anticipate that we will be wiring some funds to the trucking agency later this week. This could mean that the container would arrive in Makina as early as next week! I know that we have said that this would be happening on a few occasions before in our journal, so please approach this with cautious optomism, but it appears that there may be some closure finally for our group and we will have successfully delivered one of our containers!!!!
Next is our container to Arusha. We have been tracking the container for some time now, but haven't recieved any updates recently. That was until we logged on to the website tracking system today and saw that our container had been through a discharging port in Haifa, Israel this week. Haifa is the largest city in northern Israel and the third-largest city in the country, with a population of about 267,800. The city and areas and towns around it are deemed to be in the Haifa District. It is a seaport, located below and on Mount Carmel, and lies on the Mediterranean coast.
According to our tracking system, the container had cleared the discharging port and is now on it's way to Dar Es Salaam, where it's estimated arrival date is June 25th. We expect that it will take a few weeks to complete paper work and clear customs at the port in Dar Es Salaam, but the container should be ready for delivery in mid to late July to be sure. We have been in contact with our partners in Arusha as well as our SaskTel International office in Dar Es Salaam recently, and both are very anxious to see the container arrive!
We will keep you posted as we continue to track the container.....Thanks everyone!
