Arrival @ Hotel
The Room
| After an 8 hour flight we arrived in Peru surprisingly refreshed at about 10:30pm. Our taxi ride to the hotel was everything the guide books promised, with the cab driver locking us in and making sure all of our bags were on the floor so they were not visible from outside the vehicle. It was about a 45 min ride to the hotel, although it seemed longer as we went through some of the more "authentic" parts of town. It was late at night and peurvians are pretty aggressive drivers (think NY cab ride without streetlights or designated lanes). Our hotel, in the Miraflores neighborhood, is along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. It sits next to what must be a pretty nice\safe park as there were many people walking around as we went by around 11pm. The hotel is very nice and a welcoming retreat after our long journey. The people and ambiance are absolutely beautiful. Since neither of us are backpackers, hostels were not an option, and the Miraflores Park was a perfect choice. Hotel rates werent bad either since the country is pretty poor. Sunday we'll explore Lima and Monday its off to Cusco. The hotel in Lima has a business center and internet access, but not so sure about elsewhere. Hopefully we'll be able to continue blogging as we go to Cusco and Machu Picchu.
