Sunny Day & Rainy NIght
May 10, 2007
|Yesterday was a morning of bright sunshine, comfortable temps and low humidity. Wonderful!
After doing the journal entry at McDonalds once again, we returned to the RV. Marilyn went to do the laundry here at the campground while I got ready for my day in the cave.
I did two tours of Mark Twain cave and one of Cameron Cave yesterday. Both were with an experienced guide. Many school kids are arriving on school trips, for tours and we are extremely busy.
When I went back to the RV at the end of the day, Marilyn and I sat outdoors under the awning, with a cold drink, our feet propped up and totally relaxed. Roy came by and visited for awhile, but our primary entertainment was the birds. We have humingbirds in large numbers, beautiful yellow finches, and indigo bunting, which are bright blue. I was mistaken when I thought they were a mountain blue bird.
The hummingbirds are so territorial, fighting to protect their feeders so much that they hardly have time to drink themselves. We also have other birds here including the cardinal, and a large woodpecker called a pileated woodpecker. He is rarely seen but I will try to get a picture of him for you.
We slept with the bedroom window open last night and the sound of rain awakened me long enough to close the window, but I fell right back to sleep. :)
The wi-fi is now up and running at the campground. That makes things much easier and we can sleep in a bit longer.
This weekend is Mother's Day weekend and we have company coming on Sunday. Good friends, Dennis and Sonja, from Monroe City, will be here to visit and Dennis and I will take our wives to dinner at Sawyers Creek, across the Highway from the campground.
We may get out and about since this is the weekend which is a work weekend for our daughter, Jennifer. She is a nurse at the hospital here in Hannibal and works 12 hour shifts three or four days a week. Needless to say, we are very proud of her. She is a wonderful, caring and loving person.
Well, Marilyn has our coffee ready so I will sign off for now.
Can't wait to see what this day has in store.......
