Martinis With Wendi On My Last Night In Quito

Dinner With Wendi Just Before Going To The Airport

Twenty-two months ago, on June 30, 2005, I began my round the world trip in Istanbul, Turkey. Today, my trip ends in Quito, Ecuador. It's been an absolutely amazing experience and truly the adventure of a lifetime. On this trip, I have been to all seven of the world's continents, seen the world's most incredible natural and man-made sites, and met so many wonderful people, both locals and fellow travellers. There are so many highlights (and really no lowlights), all documented herein. I am humbled to have had this opportunity and experience--my life has been enriched and made the better for it. As this chapter in my life comes to a close, a new one begins once I step foot back in Los Angeles, California. The next chapter in my life is yet to be written, but I intend to make sure it provides as much adventure and fun as I have had over the past two years.

To all my new friends from around the world, if your travels bring you to the United States at anytime in the future, please be sure to contact me. I will definitely be contacting you when my travels next bring me to your country. Thanks to everyone back home for their love and support, especially my family in Honolulu, Los Angeles, and Sydney. A special thank you to my parents, TK and Lorraine Chun, and my college mate, Jeff Jordan, for sharing my RTW trip. Jeff started with me in Turkey and Greece on the sailboats Adele and Jo Wind, respectively, and, almost two years later, after travelling the past three months through Brazil, Colombia, and Ecuador, ended with me on the boat Eden in the Galapagos Islands (We originally planned to start on a boat, but really didn't plan to end on one); My parents travelled with me for two weeks in China in July 2006. I am so fortunate to have such a great friend and parents, each of whom travelled great distances and, in Jeff's case, made a huge sacrifice by quiting his job, to share in my RTW travels.

Almost 20 years ago, in the Spring of 1988, I met Jeff in Norton Hall at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the person who introduced me to the joys of travel. My first major trip was to Western Europe with Jeff in 1992. Since then, we have travelled to many great places around the world. I am proud to have him as my best friend and am sure the future holds many more adventures (Thanks mate for a fantastic time and great memories!).

From Quito, Ecuador--CHEERS and SALUD!

* * *

I met Wendi from South Carolina, USA, in dormitory room #2 at The Magic Bean Hostel, where we were both staying. We hung out together during our last days in Quito and South America--Sight seeing, shopping, eating, and drinking. We were both at the end of our trips and waiting in Quito for our respective flights back to the United States. I would depart for Los Angeles Thursday night, while Wendi was scheduled to depart for South Carolina on Saturday morning.
