3/6 - 3/11

Another 134 miles brought us to Ogilby, California. It was time for us to get one of our desert fixes. We enjoy sitting out in the desert, usually on BLM land, and just taking in the beauty of this part of the country (and of course we like the idea of free camping). Ogilby is within 15 miles of Yuma, Arizona and close to the border town of Algodones, Mexico. During our stay we:

>enjoyed a couple of trips to Algodones where we ate shrimp and fish tacos and did a little bit of shopping. Joan got new eyeglasses and visited a dentist to get her teeth cleaned ($15). Ken got an excellent $5 haircut.

>went into Yuma for a little grocery shopping.

>had friends (Ed and Jolene Northup and Lester and Nancy Morfin) over for dinner and a pay-for-view movie (March of the Penguins, an excellent movie - thanks Ethel George for recommending it). It is an amazingly small world, we run into friends almost everywhere we go.
