We left Thur a.m. about 9:30 headed south on Rt 7 to I-30 West to Texas. In Teaxarkana we went south on Rt 59 to Livingston, Texas. That is where our new address is and is our official residence. Our address is 192 Rainbow Drive #9253, Livingston, TX 77399-1092. This address is at the Escapees RV Park in Livingston. They have the largest mail forwarding service in the country with about 12,000 addresses that they provide service to. It is so large, they even have an official mail sorting machine which the local post office does not even have. Quite an impressive system which we got to tour one day.
The park offers a lot of services and support to members and also to the community in general. We met some really nice people and enjoyed our stay here. To become residents we registered to vote, registered our vehicles and got our new driver's licenses. Because of the weight of our RV, Hank had to get a Class B Commercial license which meant a special written test & driving test in the RV. Of course he had no problem getting it. Me (Patti) on the other hand, has still not driven the RV & wasn't about to take those tests & get that license. I just appreciate him do the driving.
While in Livingston, we ate in some local restaurants which of course included Mexican & catfish... I know that doesn't surpise anyone. We also stopped to take photos of wildflowers & the historic cemetery dating back to the mid 1980's. Lake Livingston which is near is a huge reservior on the Trinity River & supplies 70% of the water supply for Houston. It covers 83,000 surface acres of water & has over 450 miles of shoreline. It also provides camping, water sports, fishing (crappie, catfish & bass) & some nice waterfront properties. Storm damage from Hurricane Rita in 2005 is estimated at over 9 million dollars. Livingston is located NE of Houston & SE of Dallas. Weather on Friday night included bad thunder storms & tornado watch, but we had no problems. While here it was the first time the temps got up to the 80's & I actually had on shorts during the day.
