-Kasumay!
-Kasumay Bare!
Our next destination was 20 Km away, but we had to take one taxi, one minibus, spend the night in a "campement" in Oussouye, wait seven hours at the bus station for the bus to Elinkine and take a pirogue to the island in order to get there. Travelling in Senegal is definitely not easy. The reward was the peaceful atmosphere at the île de Karabane, where one can do pretty much nothing and not feel an inch guilty about it. We wandered around the island and its tiny fishing village enjoying sunrise and sunset over the river Casamance, where we also had a very nice bath. We also took a pirogue for bird-watching. We saw so many different kinds of birds! Herons, pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, and many other beautiful birds that unfortunately we are unable to name.
The heat is almost unbearable. This made a few days chilling out on île de Karabane a must.
Enjoy the photos (loads of birds this time).
Hope you are all having fun wherever you are. Connections in this area are very, very slow. Please be patient. Sooner than later you'll hear from us.
Idoia & Mikel.
P.S. Thanks for all your messages, thanks to my mother, to Leyre, to Kepa, Alex (Laos), Marinela, Anna (cuca de llum), Gemma ("Be gazelle, my friend!"), Maria (from Napoli), Yaroni & Tali... Hope I'm not forgetting anyone. And a very big thank you to Mikel's mother and sister for taking care of Karras (our dog).
