End of The Road - London to Sydney 2007 travel blog

Greetings everyone from the sunny town of Brazov in Romania. It's just over a week since we left Lon*** and all is good. Infact all is very good indeed. It's a long time since I was in Brazov and the town has come a long way. Infact the whole of Romania has been suberb. Two bush camps. The first in a local framers field had the local councillor invite everyone to his house for Schnapps (home made of course) and last night was our first camp fire, celebrated with a quick sleep from 5am till 6am before heading in here for a much needed espresso.

So, from London we have so far stopped in Prague (loved it), Vienna (liked it) and Budapest (didn't see it due to truck guard duty). The in between bits have been bush camps enroute but fun none the less.

As for my new travel buddies, first impressions are extremely favourable. A really good bunch with a fine mix of experienced overlanders and newbies. Everyone is mucking in and apart from the Phantom shitter appearing again (it's an African thing), all is running smoothly. I'll not do the usual critique of everyone but I'm sure you'll get to know them all over the coming weeks. First mention must go to Rixy and his 'cultural' tours. John, Steve and I have joined him in exploring the beer culture of the many fine cities mentioned above. No doubt these guys will be mentioned in dispatches once or twice in the future.

The truck as you may have seen on the previous entry is indeed a beast. Very different in layout from previous trucks but well suited to this trip. Seats are generally forward facing and luggage stored outside but it all seems to work really well. Inside storage is non existent but we're working with the crew to rectify the problem. Steve our main driver is meeting us in Istanbul in a few days time so I think all will be mended soon after that. Food has been excellent with no veggie slop (and sadly no chicken).

Think that's most of it covered but ask any questions and you like and I'll attempt to answer them. The camera is starting to come out so hopefully next time there will be some pics. I'm also looking to get a smaller pocket one so watch this space. You can of course get the cmopany version by looking at the eoe site. Kirsty has posted at least one entry. Tata and speak soon.
