I had been praying to the Weather Gods for conditions suitable to show Suzanne and Russ the beauty of the nearby Exumas and my efforts were not in vain. The Captain and I untied and set off while the sleepheads were still in bed. They were here for a good time not a long time so we had to make use of every hour.
We stopped at Allen's Cay to see the Iguanas and had lunch while we were anchored there. Our plan was to spend the night there but the anchorage was uncomfortably rolly so we continued on a few miles further south to nearby Norman's Cay. Suzanne got some first hand experience why the cruising guides warn that the iguanas have been known to bite as she offered one some food and it moved too quickly for her. I asked her if she saw it's teeth and she answered that she saw all the way down it's throat. We gave the locals who were relaxing on the beach a good laugh.
The anchorage we were heading for at Norman's Cay is reached from the east or ocean side so we took Allen's Cut and went out to give Russ some deep sea fishing experience. He suffered the heart break of losing a couple of biguns before landing a nice mackerel.
We found a nice, calm anchorage at Norman's Cay to spend the night. Suz and Russ enjoyed swimming, snorkelling, beachcombing and exploring in the dingy, checking out the sights below with our looky bucket, a beautiful Bahamian sunset, some rum punch and jerk chicken on the barbie.
