We arrived in Paris on Thursday afternoon, at the Gare de Monparnasse and transferred to the Gare de l'Est. Wove our way through the reconstruction of the latter, up the streets to another construction site on the road outside our hotel. The room was tiny but clean, air conditioned and with a beautifully appointed bathroom. A supermarket next door provided us with cheese and bikkies and we settled in to toast our last night in Paris with a Vin de Loire. Sipping champagne, eating tapenade and cheese before tackling the streets again. Shopping, then we had a Chinese meal on the way home, where the zealous server gave us everything we discussed and more. We ate about a third of it, then walked all the way back.
Over the last two days my pedometer measured thirteen, yes, thirteen kilometres for each day. That is about 20 000 steps daily. Even with a wide margin of error that is quite a distance for both of us.
