Begbies on Tour travel blog

Our meandering north led us to Waihi Beach, on the coast of the south-east corner of the Coromandel Peninsula. We had kind of hoped for enough time to actually see some of the surrounding area, but we arrived after the drive from Rotorua abit later than

expected, and other than a walk along the beach (no sun in sight, threatening to rain) we just stayed in the campsite and relaxed a bit. The town itself was tiny, and we had to drive to the next one to find a large enough supermarket to get some food for dinner and our final attempt at sight-seeing the next morning at the open-cast gold-mine nearby was cut short by a sudden rain-storm. Not the most memorable stop on thetrip, fair to say, but mostly due to poor weather and lack of time.
