Our First Year Of Full-timing travel blog

We started the day with a buffet breakfast at the Elephant Butte Inn which is right on the lake. They really serve a great breakfast! You can get just about anything you want so it was hard not to try a lot of things. I had an omelet made for me while Lee had a Belgian Waffle made for him. Then, of course, we had to sample other things from the buffet. Needless to say, it saved us from buying lunch!

We stopped for the night at the Mountain Road RV Park in Tucumcari, New Mexico. We had stopped there on our way to Deming last fall and so it was a convenient spot for a night on the way back. This is a good stopover campground but it wouldn't be anywhere we'd stay for any length of time.

We were too tired to make our own dinner so we drove into town and ate at the Sonic. There were not a lot of choices in Tucumcari. In fact, it looked like a whole raft of restaurants were closed for the season... or permanently. Maybe the demise of Route 66 (which used to be the main road through town) was just catching up with the area or something but we passed at least 7 closed restaurants including a Pizza Hut.

We'll be on the road again tomorrow!
