Today we spent the day in Sines,a town about 15 minutes south of Santo Andre.
The birthplace of Portugals most famous explorer Dom Vasco da Gama,Sines is on the verge of being the largest container Portfacilities on th Iberian Peninsula.
We started the day with a short play on the beach and then toured the old town centre.
The narrow cobblestone streets criss crossed and intersected each other in no clear pattern,so we just lost ourselves for the day.
As it was a Sunday, the streets were quiet, and we had all day to explore the architecture and colorful nooks and crannies
The ancient Roman Castle, which is said to be where Vasco was born is perched over the harbour, and has wonderful views over the palm lined harbour.
During the summer, within the walls of the castle, one of Europes greatest World Music Festivals takes place, with acts coming from all continents, this definetly would be worth coming back for.
It is Sunday night and we are now back home in Santo Andre.
The not so legal disco down the sandy lane is pumping out some seriously bad dance music. but the kids are sound asleep after a big day.
