The Largest Cashew Tree In The World, Pirangi Do Sul, South Natal

The Cashew Tree's Main Trunk

SATURDAY, MARCH 4, 2007. NATAL, BRAZIL. We have arrived in Natal after flying back from Fernando De Noronha to Recife and catching a bus to Natal. Due to expensive internet access and limited time, I have not had an opportunity to update my journal for almost a week. I will try to do an update tomorrow.

SUNDAY, MARCH 5, 2007. NATAL, BRAZIL. After purchasing a bus ticket to Aracati (R$54; 5 hours), we hired a taxi to take us to Pirangi do Sul, just south of Natal, where we viewed the world's largest cashew tree from above and below. It's circumference is over 500 meters. After lunch at a nearby beach restaurant, we caught a bus to Aracati and then a taxi to Canoa Quebrada, a tiny beach village.
